IBM announced it’s new supercomputer “Sequoia” breaking all the speed barriers set by themselves. This supercomputer along with another one named “Dawn” are currently being built in US, for use in nuclear tests. These will also help in performing tasks in the field of Oil exploration, Weather forecasting and other such intelligent systems.
The new supercomputer will be 20 times faster than the previous one launched by the company 7 months ago which was the first petaflop supercomputer. Sequoia will operate at 20 petaflops per second.
In simple words, this is the world’s fastest supercomputer having a computing power equivalent to two million laptops.
The supercomputer will occupy a house of more than 300 square meters.
